Uncertainty
In 2021 I wrote and directed a documentary about unusual leaders in extreme circumstances who demonstrate how to transform uncertainty into opportunity, I worked with scientists and researchers from UCL to understand the science of how it’s done.
The show was repeatedly called “life-changing” and “mindset shifting” by audiences, so I’ve developed it into a workshop that focuses on leadership and innovation for individuals and organisations in increasingly uncertain times.

Overview
What: A interactive session on leadership and innovation amidst ongoing uncertainty that makes a measurable and lasting impact on its audiences.
Who: Each audience member goes on a carefully designed learning journey meeting the Uncertainty Experts one by one, from refugees, turned entrepreneurs to ex-gang leaders turned business leaders.
Where: It’s online, deliverable across multiple time zones, but I’ve taken the experience design to a new level to recreate human interaction, from theatre to technology, it’s like nothing else online.
How: It’s a multiplatform experience. Audiences watch the content on a computer while responding to challenges sent to their phones, which creates a personalized toolkit for them to use.
Why: Because the scientific evidence is unequivocal, Uncertainty is the greatest driver of anxiety, but can also be the gateway to huge creativity. This session shows how to make that a choice.
Outcome: Robust research, taken before and after the sessions, shows a statistically significant uplift in audiences’ creativity, open-mindedness, decisiveness, and comfort with ambiguity.
This is mind and behaviour changing, not just temporary mood changing.

Unusual Suspects
The Uncertainty Experts faced prolonged exposure to extreme uncertainty as prisoners, refugees, smugglers, gang leaders, hostages, and more.
But, they harnessed the strategies learned in the shadows to become leading lights, helping people around the world develop their own tools for surviving uncertainty.

Multi Episode Format
3 x live 1-hour sessions that take place at a set time weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
The ‘series’ format, allows a group to really go on a journey. The space between episodes allows for all-important reflection and group discussion.
Audience members interact individually, which automatically builds a profile, which becomes their personalized ongoing toolkit to turning uncertainty into opportunity.
Robust scientific measures are taken, before and after, and individuals’ Uncertainty Tolerance Scores are added to their profiles.
Groups who experience the content as a multi episodic experience, have a higher increase in their uncertainty tolerance and report greater behaviour change.
Workshop Format
A 2 or 3-hour workshop, that can be extended comfortably to a half day.
The session features 5 - 9 Uncertainty Experts and 1 - 3 scientists.
The session tackles all the 3 negative impacts of Uncertainty; Fear, Fog, and Stasis.
Audience members interact individually, which automatically builds a profile, which becomes their personalized ongoing toolkit to turning uncertainty into opportunity.
Robust scientific measures are taken, before and after, and individuals Uncertainty Tolerance Scores are added to their profiles.
The sessions are delivered live via any video conferencing platform, and the additional interactivity takes place on audiences’ mobile devices.
